IQAC

The IQAC cell is functional in the Savitribai Phule Pune University since 2009. Initially it started under the auspices of BCUD and had a temporary office in the in the ‘International Centre’. Now it has a full fledged office with the state of art facilities in the ‘Law building’. The new office was inaugurated at the hand of Prof. W.N. Gade, Honourable Vice-Chancellor (SPPU). The following is the composition of IQAC

The Savitribai Phule Pune University has been accredited by the National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC) at 'A' level in the year 2011. The NAAC, National Action Plan requires every accredited institution to establish an Internal Quality Assurance Cell (IQAC) as a post accreditation quality sustenance measure. Accordingly, IQAC has been setup in the University with the Vice -Chancellor as its Chairman. The IQAC is the central point in implementation of the Quality Policy of the university and work for quality enhancement and sustenance. It has developed a system for conscious, consistent and catalytic improvement in the performance of the university. IQAC develops a quality manual describing various benchmarks and the processes designed to achieve them. The manual describes the QA system, the set of guidelines, codes of good practices and procedures to be implemented by the various units. Based on the prescribed guidelines, each unit of the university develops its own internal quality assurance mechanism. The mechanisms is coherent with the quality assurance framework and approved by the IQAC, to evaluate the quality of teaching programmes and courses, academic staff, teaching and learning experience, student assessment, internal moderation, support services, resources and facilities, and research and programme review processes.

The accreditation of higher Education institutes in India through NAAC has certainly helped instilling quality culture in the education institutes and provided each institute the opportunity to protect and improve the quality of the education offered. The accreditation process has fostered the institutes for Shared values and commitments of all communities involved (academics, administrative and support staff, students).

The university has undergone two cycles of accreditation. The recommendations and suggestions made in the previous two cycles and the rigorous process of Academic and Administarive Audit (AAA) the University has undertaken has enabled the University for all-inclusive and organized development in the areas of Research, Teaching Learning evaluation and extension activities.

Besides the regular meetings the IQAC conducted the following activities :

• One day workshop on Disaster Management on 17th of January 2015. This workshop was conducted jointly with the Indian Geotechnical Society. During this workshop besides deliberations on natural disasters special emphasis was given to the Malin Disaster and the causes and remedied for the same were discussed. Shree. Girishaji Bapat, Pune district guardian minister inaugurated this workshop in the presence of Prof. W.N. Gade and both addressed the gathering, elaborating the importance and necessity of such workshop. Experts from Indian Institute of Disaster Management, Geological Survey of India, Mumbai IIT served as the resource persons.
• Professor Suresh K Bhargava ,PhD (EXON.), DSc ; FTSE, FRSC, FRACI, FANE, FNASc, FAPASc Deputy Pro Vice Chancellor (International Research) from RMIT University Melbourne Australia visited the SPPU and IQAC and gave a special lecture on “What Business expect from Higher education?: Bringing innovation in teaching and research:”
• Dr. C.D. Thatte, Former Secretary to the Government of India for the Ministry of water resources was inviated to speak on the ‘Indias Water issues” to celebrate the world water day on 30th of March 2015
