| 
				The 
				English Language Intensive Course for International Students (ELICIS) 
				is conducted by the International Centre, University of Pune for 
				a period of 4 months at 5 levels each. Students from different 
				countries attend the course. The course prepares the foreign 
				students from Non-English speaking backgrounds to cope with the 
				education system at the Indian Universities.
 ELICIS offers you an opportunity to:
 
					
					
					
					Equip yourself for your present and future academic, 
					research & career pursuits, to understand classroom 
					lectures, read textbooks, do reference reading, participate 
					in classroom discussions, and write assignments and 
					examination answers in English.
					
					
					Prepare yourself to function effectively in your future 
					profession.
					
					
					Prepare yourself in social and other situations in which you 
					may be called upon to use English. 
				The 
				specific objective of this course is to develop the 
				communication skills in reading, writing, speaking and 
				listening, with emphasis on grammar and vocabulary. 
 Each ELICIS programme is divided into three levels, i.e. Levels I, II & III,.  At the beginning of each course, a test is conducted to determine the English proficiency level of the student. Following the test and results, students are divided into groups.
 
 The five levels are run both simultaneously with other courses 
				or independently. The admission to this course is subject to 
				fulfillment of the conditions of eligibility.
 
 The duration of each course is sixteen weeks, four hours a day, 
				six days a week.
 
 For those students who join the undergraduate & postgraduate 
				courses at the University of Pune an English Proficiency Test (EPT) 
				is mandatory. This is however waived for those ELICIS students 
				who get an aggregate of B+ and above at the end of course. 
				Students who obtain B+ (61%) and more shall be exempted from 
				giving the English Proficiency Test (EPT), which is otherwise 
				compulsory for all students taking admission in the University. 
				All student who get B, or have failed must appear for the 
				English Proficiency Test (EPT) in the first year at the 
				University.

				Procedure of Admission:  
					
					Application in 
					Person/Through Friends or Relatives in India (third person)Those who wish to submit their ELICIS application in person 
					or through friends or relatives in India should follow the 
					following steps
 
 Step 1 –
 Follow admission procedure and instructions given by the 
					International Centre, regarding the documents, fees, etc.
 
 Step 2 –
 Once the student receives the admission letter, please go to 
					the nearest Indian Embassy and apply for student visa.
 
 Step 3 –
 On arrival in India, the student must report to the 
					International Centre, University of Pune immediately for the 
					further admission procedure (registration) and must pay the 
					remaining fees of USD 80 for Medical Check-up and USD 75 for 
					Medical Insurance and must follow the instruction given by 
					the course co-ordinator.
 
Application by Post/courier:Those who wish to submit their ELICIS application by post 
					should follow the following steps
 
 Step 1 –

Please note the Demand Draft should be drawn in Indian Rupees and it should be payable at Pune city only.
 
 Step 3 –
 Keep one copy of the application with you and send the 
					original copy along with all the documents and a return 
					self-addressed postal envelope with stamp by post/courier to

 Once the application is received by post/courier by the 
					International Centre, University of Pune, the process of 
					eligibility is completed and if you are eligible for the 
					course, a Letter of Final Eligibility and Admission is sent 
					to you by email as well as by post.
 
 Step 4 –
 As soon as you receive your admission letter, by email or by 
					post, please go to the nearest Indian Embassy and apply for 
					student visa.
