Research
The number of research papers published in leading legal publications in India and abroad by the members of faculty from 1966 to 2015 is about 400. Several of these papers form a part of prestigious collections published in the form of books. There are about 25 books published by the faculty of the department.
The Department celebrated its silver jubilee in 1991-92 by organizing series of Seminars, G.R. Gandhi Memorial lecture series, Moot Court Competition, Workshops, Training programme and by bringing out a book on Legislative Principles and Judicial Process. The Department organizes lecture series for the benefit of students, academicians, lawyers and common man. It also conducts seminars and workshops to impart legal education and to suggest development of law to meet the needs of the society, in general and legal fraternity in particular. In the past 50 years several National and State level workshops have been conducted in collaboration with renowned institutions. Recently, the department celebrated golden jubilee in 2015-16 with several seminars, guest lectures, Alumni Meet and also celebrated 125th Century year of Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar with seminars and various programmes.
The Department has undertaken and completed the Research project on Development and Empowerment of Children : A Socio Legal Study, funded by BCUD, University of Pune. The Department has also undertaken research projects on Fundamental Rights of Minority Educational Institutions in India, Impact of Legal Regime on Hospital Administration in India, Nuances of Bio-Medical Waste Management : Environment Degradation and Gross Violation of Human Rights funded by BCUD, Savitribai Phule Pune University. The Department initiated human rights education programme for the PG departments of the University and now extended to PG programme of Educational Institutions affiliated to Savitribai Phule Pune University.
