Formerly known as M.C.S. (Master of Computer science with specialization in scientific computing), the course was started to address the need for training and research in the evolving field of Scientific Computing. The latter combines domain expertise from pure sciences with computer science.

The school is one of its kind in India and the courses offered here are focused on fundamentals in scientific computing. The in-house faculty at ISSC is well supported by experts from the IT industry , which make the program oriented to the current trends in the industry. Second year of M. As B. Sc Computers (BCS) is not a eligibility requirement for MCA, the first year of MCA largely repeats the BCS syllabus.
Hence, a BCS graduates preferably opt for M. Sc as they save one year.

How is M. Sc Scientific Computing different from M. Sc Computer Science?
