M.Tech. (Energy Technology)

Information Regarding M.Tech. course and Admission Process

Tech. (Energy Technology) course:

The Centre for Energy Studies offers a full time four semesters M. Tech. (Energy Technology) course, with an intake capacity of 25 students (20 regular + 5 industry sponsored). The program is being conducted in close association with leading industries in Pune. Experts in the field of conventional as well as renewable energy sector are contributing as faculty for the course.

Various aspects of energy such as Energy Scenario, Environmental Impact of Energy Systems, Energy Conversion and Conservations, Renewable Sources of Energy, Green Power, Energy Audit and Management, Carbon Credit etc. are covered in the syllabus. Students are also offered specialization courses in Solar Energy Technologies, Wind Energy Technology, Energy Audit and Management, Waste Heat Recovery, Data Analytics, Energy Storage etc.

The relevant laboratory experiments are also carried out at the Centre for Energy Studies with hands-on exposure at industry premises of Thermax Limited, Pune. The alumni of the course are well placed in leading energy industries in India as well as overseas or joined government organizations. Many of the alumni also engage themselves as entrepreneur in their own startups in the field of energy.

The Centre for Energy Studies is recognized as Centre of Excellence by Ministry of New and Renewable Energy (MNRE), Government of India. Under the Centre of Excellence scheme, MNRE provides 02 Fellowships under National Renewable Energy Fellowship (NREF) program to M. Tech. (Energy Technology) students at School of Energy Studies, Savitribai Phule Pune University.

B.E. / B. Tech. (all disciplines)

Qualifying Exam for admission

B.E. / B. Tech. (any discipline) through entrance examination (OEE) of Savitribai Phule Pune University

Number of Seats

22 + 5 (sponsored by industry)

Sponsored candidates are required to produce a letter of sponsorship from the industry.

Fellowship

Among the admitted candidates to M. Tech. (Energy Technology) program, 02 (TWO) candidates on the basis of GATE score, will be eligible to receive fellowship of INR 12,400/- per month.

The fellowship will be given by Ministry of New and Renewable Energy (MNRE), Government of India under National Renewable Energy Fellowship (NREF) Program.

The fellowship will be offered only after approval from MNRE, Government of India and sanction to Centre for Energy Studies, Savitribai Phule Pune University. All the terms and conditions and its amendments by MNRE will be applicable.
