The University
Board of Sports & Physical Education
came into existence in the year 1949. The
objective of the Board of Sports & physical Education is to take necessary
steps for promotion of sports culture and activities in the field of
sports in colleges and university departments and also to establish links with
regional and national bodies in the various sports and to promote various
activities jointly with them in colleges, recognized
institutions and university departments as per the policy of the
university.

Scheme for Promotion of
sports at College level
1. Sports Scholarship for Meritorious Sports Persons
For the promotion of Game Sports at College level; the University Board of
Sports & Physical Education has decided to award sports scholarship to meritorious sports person;
who has achieved medals at All India Inter University Tournament Organized
by the Association of Indian Universities; New Delhi; Since Academic year
2007-08.

2. Grant for Purchase of Non-consumable Sports Equipments
Under the Quality Improvement programmee runned by the University. The committee has decided to provide financial assistance to all affiliated Colleges and recognized Institutes of Savitribai Phule Pune University for the Purchases of Non-consumable sports equipments.
This decision has been taken to improve the sports facilities in the College and to motivate the students to take actual part in sports events.
The financial Provision made for this scheme is 1.5 crore for every academic year. Every College & Institute is eligible for the grant of Rs. 1,00,000/- for the Purchase of Non consumable sports equipment after every alternate year.
