Research Policy of the Department of Commerce:
Preamble:
Research is one the important and principal aspect of basic academic activities of the department. The department focuses on following three major areas- Viz:
Teaching
Research
Extension
Research being the principal plank of the department. The department has prepared few
guidelines of research and undertaking research activities. These guidelines are broadly
covered under the title Research Policy of the Department.
Objectives of the Policy:
The following objectives have been laid down:
1. To develop a Research Culture in the department
2. To undertake Research Projects considering the focus areas of the department.
3. To provide guidance and facilities to students pursuing Doctoral research
4. To develop general awareness regarding research in commerce.

Coverage of the Policy:
The Policy shall include various aspects related with guidance, undertaking various activities
related to different Research Programmes
Section A: General guidelines regarding Research
The general guidelines regarding research include the following:
1. To promote a healthy Research culture in the department.
2. To provide a well define direction to research scholar and teachers.
3. To develop an appropriate infrastructure for promotion of research.
4. To subscribe books, journals and periodical useful for undertaking research programme.
5. To communicate with various institutions and committee for establishment of research
association and undertake collaboration.
Section B: Rules regarding conducting research
The rules regarding conducting of research are as follows:
1. Every project related with Research shall be rooted through the Head of the
Department.
2. There will be a Departmental Research Committee that will decide as to accord sanction
for various research project and other research activity.
3. The Departmental Research Committee shall meet as and when required and discuss
issues related with conducting research programme.
4. The Research Committee shall also discuss about the title, scope and coverage of the
research.
5. The head of the department shall decide the date and time of meeting of Research
Committee.
6. The associate guide shall be invited according to the convenient of time for meeting.
Section C: Guidelines regarding supervision
1. The title of the Research project/ Thesis shall be submitted for approval.
2. The departmental Research Committee shall carefully analysis the title and contents of
the paper.
3. Proposal should be according to the standard norms as laid down by the department.
4. The committee shall evaluate the research proposal according to the rules for evaluation
of as per.
5. A report shall be prepare for acceptance, rejections and modification and communicate
to the candidates.
6. After every six months the research scholars/ candidates should have to submit proposal
as per .
7. The pre-submission of the thesis shall be subject to presentation and satisfactory
performance.
8. The pre-submission of the thesis shall be evaluated as per norms laid down by the
department and the evaluation report shall be rightly filled in by two experts form
concerned board as per.
9. The candidates shall be informed required modification and correction regarding the
draft report.
10. The candidates shall also be informed as to correction to be carried out and finalized
Section D: Rules for submission of thesis subject to plagiarism test
1. No candidates shall not be allowed to submit the thesis if the contents of the thesis are more than 10% of copied materials.
2. A report of plagiarism test shall be provided to candidate.
3. In case of candidate registered for Ph.D. publication of papers is mandatory as per new
norms of UGC.
Section E: Rules regarding Viva:
The department shall conduct viva of research scholar as per prevailing norms of the
University.
1. Minimum 15 days’ notice is required
2. The presentation for viva shall be evaluated as per norms of evaluation.
Section F: General rules regarding Research for teachers:
1. The Department shall encourage regular teachers to undertake minor or major project.
2. Every teacher is expected to submit proposal to national funding agencies like
NABARD, ICSSR, etc.
3. The teachers are also expected to publish research paper regarding research in various
national and international journal of repute.
